The website operator takes your data protection very seriously and treats your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory provisions.

Please bear in mind that data transmission on the Internet can always be subject to security gaps. Complete protection against access by third parties is not realizable.

Access Information

The website operator or page provider collects data about access to the site and stores it as “server log files”. The following data is logged in this way:

  • Visited website
  • Time at the time of access
  • Quantity of data sent in bytes
  • Source/reference from which you accessed the site
  • Used Browser
  • Operating system used
  • IP address used

The data collected is only used for statistical analysis and to improve the website. However, the website operator reserves the right to check the server log files subsequently if concrete indications of illegal use are found.

Cookies

Our website uses so-called cookies. These are small text files that are stored on your end device with the help of the browser. They do not cause any damage.

We use cookies to make our offer user-friendly. Some cookies remain stored on your end device until you delete them. They enable us to recognize your browser on your next visit.

If you do not wish to do so, you can set up your browser to inform you about the setting of cookies and only allow this in individual cases.

If you deactivate cookies, the functionality of our website may be limited.

Handling of Personal Data

The website operator only collects, uses and passes on your personal data if this is permitted by law or if you consent to the collection of data.

Personal data is defined as all information which serves to determine your person and which can be traced back to you – such as your name, e-mail address and telephone number.

User Rights: Information, Correction and Deletion

Upon request, you as a user will receive information free of charge about what personal data about you has been stored. Provided that your request does not conflict with a legal obligation to retain data (e.g. data retention), you have the right to have incorrect data corrected and to have your personal data blocked or deleted.

Handling of Contact Data

If you contact the website operator through the contact options offered, your details will be stored so that they can be used to process and answer your enquiry. This data will not be passed on to third parties without your consent.

Handling Comments and Contributions

If you leave a contribution or comment on this website, your IP address will be saved. This serves the security of the website operator: If your text violates the law, he wants to be able to trace your identity.

Google Analytics

This website uses the “Google Analytics” service, which is provided by Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) to analyze the use of the website by users. The service uses “cookies” – text files which are stored on your end device. The information collected by the cookies is usually sent to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

IP anonymization is used on this website. The IP address of users is shortened within the member states of the EU and the European Economic Area. Due to this shortening, the personal reference of your IP address is no longer necessary. As part of the agreement on commissioned data, which the website operators have concluded with Google Inc., the latter uses the information collected to create an evaluation of website use and website activity and provides services associated with Internet use.

You have the option of preventing the cookie from being stored on your device by making appropriate settings in your browser. It cannot be guaranteed that you will be able to access all the functions of this website without restrictions if your browser does not allow cookies.

Furthermore, you can use a browser plugin to prevent the information collected by cookies (including your IP address) from being sent to Google Inc. and used by Google Inc. The following link will take you to the corresponding plugin: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de

Here you will find further information on the use of data by Google Inc.: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/6004245?hl=de

Use of social media buttons with “Shariff”

We use the c’t project “Shariff” on our website. “Shariff” replaces the usual share buttons of social networks and thus protects the surfing behaviour.

“Shariff” integrates these share buttons of the social networks on our website merely as a graphic, which contains a link to the corresponding social network. By clicking on the corresponding graphic, you will be redirected to the services of the respective network. The Shariff button only establishes direct contact between the social network and our visitors when the visitor actively clicks on the share button. Only then will your data be transmitted to the respective social network. If, on the other hand, the Shariff button is not clicked, there is no exchange between you and the social networks. You can find more information about the c’t project “Shariff” at Heise.

We integrate the following social networks with “Shariff” on our website:

  • Facebook
  • LinkedIn
  • Xing
  • Twitter

 Use of Facebook Social Plugins

On the basis of our legitimate interests (i.e. interest in the analysis, optimisation and economic operation of our online offer within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f. DSGVO) social plugins (“plugins”) of the social network facebook.com, which is operated by Facebook Ireland Ltd, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland (“Facebook”). The plugins can display interaction elements or content (e.g. videos, graphics or text contributions) and can be recognised by one of the Facebook logos (white “f” on blue tile, the terms “Like”, “Like” or a “thumbs up” sign) or are marked with the addition “Facebook Social Plugin”. The list and appearance of the Facebook Social Plugins can be viewed here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/.

Facebook is certified under the Privacy Shield Agreement and thus offers a guarantee of compliance with European data protection law (https://www.privacyshield.gov/participant?id=a2zt0000000GnywAAC&status=Active).

When a user calls up a function of this online offer that contains such a plugin, his device establishes a direct connection with the Facebook servers. The content of the plugin is transmitted by Facebook directly to the user’s device and integrated into the online offer by the user. User profiles can be created from the processed data. We, therefore, have no influence on the extent of the data that Facebook collects with the help of this plugin and therefore inform the users according to our state of knowledge.

By integrating the plugins, Facebook receives the information that a user has called up the corresponding page of the online offer. If the user is logged in to Facebook, Facebook can assign the visit to his or her Facebook account. If users interact with the plugins, for example, by pressing the Like button or making a comment, the corresponding information is transmitted directly from your device to Facebook and stored there. If a user is not a member of Facebook, it is still possible for Facebook to find out his or her IP address and store it. According to Facebook, only an anonymised IP address is stored in Germany.

The purpose and scope of the data collection and the further processing and use of the data by Facebook, as well as the relevant rights and setting options to protect the privacy of users, can be found in Facebook’s data protection information: https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.

If a user is a Facebook member and does not want Facebook to collect data about him/her via this online offer and link it with his/her membership data stored on Facebook, he/she must log out of Facebook before using our online offer and delete his/her cookies. Further settings and objections to the use of data for advertising purposes are possible within the Facebook profile settings: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads  or via the US website http://www.aboutads.info/choices/  or via the EU-Website http://www.youronlinechoices.com/. The settings are platform-independent, i.e. they are applied to all devices, such as desktop computers or mobile devices.

Twitter

This offer uses the buttons of the Twitter-Service. These buttons are offered by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. They are recognisable by terms such as “Twitter” or “Follow”, associated with a stylised blue bird. With the help of the buttons, it is possible to share a post or page of this offer on Twitter or follow the provider on Twitter.

If a user calls up a website of this internet presence that contains such a button, his browser establishes a direct connection with the servers of Twitter. The content of the Twitter button is transmitted by Twitter directly to the user’s browser. The provider, therefore, has no influence on the extent of the data that Twitter collects with the help of this plugin and informs the users according to his state of knowledge. According to this, only the IP address of the user, the URL of the respective website is transmitted when the button is obtained but is not used for any other purpose than the display of the button.
Further information on this can be found in the Twitter privacy policy at http://twitter.com/privacy.

If the person concerned is logged in to YouTube at the same time, YouTube recognises which specific subpage of our website the person concerned is visiting by calling up a subpage containing a YouTube video. This information is collected by YouTube and Google and assigned to the respective YouTube account of the person concerned.

YouTube and Google will receive information through the YouTube component that the data subject has visited our website whenever the data subject is logged on to YouTube at the same time as he or she visits our website, regardless of whether or not the data subject clicks on a YouTube video. If the data subject does not wish this information to be transmitted to YouTube and Google, he or she can prevent the transmission by logging out of his or her YouTube account before accessing our website.

Using the Xing Recommendation Components

We use components of the XING.com network on our site. These components are a service of XING AG, Dammtorstraße 29-32, 20354 Hamburg, Germany.

Each time you access our website, which is equipped with such a component, this component causes the browser you are using to download a corresponding display of the component from XING.

To the best of our knowledge, XING does not store any personal data of the user when calling our website. XING also does not store any IP addresses. In addition, no evaluation of user behaviour regarding the use of cookies in connection with the “XING Share Button” takes place. Further information on this can be found in the privacy policy for the XING Share Button at https://www.xing.com/app/share?op=data_protection

This enables LinkedIn to associate your visit to our pages with your LinkedIn account.

We have no control over the information LinkedIn collects through this or the extent of that information LinkedIn collects. Nor do we have any knowledge of the content of the data submitted to LinkedIn. For details about LinkedIn’s data collection practices, your rights and preferences, please see LinkedIn’s privacy policy. You can find this notice at http://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Google Maps

We integrate the maps of the “Google Maps” service of the provider Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. Privacy Policy: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/, Opt-Out: https://adssettings.google.com/authenticated.

Integration of Third-Party Services and Content

It can happen that within this online offer third party content, such as videos from YouTube, map material from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics from other websites are integrated. This always presupposes that the providers of these contents (hereinafter referred to as “third-party providers”) are aware of the IP address of the users. Without the IP address, they would not be able to send the content to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is, therefore, necessary for the display of these contents. We make every effort to use only such content whose respective providers use the IP address solely for the purpose of delivering the content. However, we have no influence on this if the third-party providers store the IP address for statistical purposes, for example. As far as we are aware of this, we inform the users about it.
